Statement Regarding the Confederate Monument in front of Memorial Auditorium
Wichita Falls, TX: The Museum of North Texas History has not been approached in any official capacity to rehouse the Confederate Monument which is located in front of Memorial Auditorium in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The Board and Staff of the Museum of North Texas History are aware of the discussions surrounding the monument, and that in other towns and cities across the country, museums have become a repository for Confederate Statues and Monuments. We appreciate the public for wanting to engage the Museum into this conversation to provide context and history.
We, as an organization, are willing to participate in conversations surrounding the monument with both residents and the Wichita Falls City Council.
Just as with membership, donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Also, we will be happy to acknowledge memorials and honoraria.
